MENG Dong, Secretary of the Party Committee at Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University Leading the Team to Investigate the Construction of Trauma Center

  · On June 4, MENG Dong, Secretary of the Party Committee, WANG Ping and LI Leping, members of the Party Committee, vice president at Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University leaded the heads of relevant administrative departments to conduct on-site survey in the Trauma Center ward. Staff members from the hospital's Trauma Center participated in the survey.

  The symposium examines current situation, construction planning, construction completed, and difficulties and problems in development of the Trauma Center. At the symposium, LI Lianxin, executive deputy director of the Trauma Center and deputy director of the Second Trauma Department at the East District, introduced the construction of the Trauma Center. WANG Lubo, deputy director of Trauma Center, deputy director of the First Trauma Department, put forward suggestions on strengthening the construction of the Trauma Center. WANG Bomin, deputy director of the Second Trauma Department, deputy director of Emergency Surgery, deputy director of the First Trauma Department at the East District and LIU Dongxing, deputy director of the Outpatient Department, director of the Outpatient Department at the East District, deputy director of the Emergency Center, director of the Emergency Center at the East District, and deputy director of the Trauma Center also participated in the symposium.

  MENG Dong in his speech affirmed the preliminary work of the Trauma Center, and required that it should continue to attach great importance to the building of Trauma Center and providing support to create the trauma medical center.

  It is necessary to focus on requirements, training and drills, evaluation and feedback on problems against the benchmarks. It is necessary to strengthen daily management, sort out problems and solve them in a timely manner, enhance mutual cooperation and examine the construction of Trauma Center on a regular basis.

  On April 20, 2018, Shandong Trauma Center was officially inaugurated and affiliated to Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University (Shandong Provincial Hospital). The Hospital focuses on the construction of the Trauma Center, which is led by leaders of the Hospital, to set up a special organizational structure for the center. The center enjoys superior resources of the hospital, such as departments and experts and it adheres to the concept of trauma patients first. On September 1, 2020, the Trauma Center of the hospital successfully completed the expert assessment of the National Regional Medical Center for Trauma. It was recommended to apply for the title of National Regional Medical Center for Trauma.

  After three years of development, the Trauma Center of the hospital has established an extremely fast, safe and efficient life rescue system, including the First Trauma Department (trauma orthopedics), the Second Trauma Department (trauma rehabilitation), the Third Trauma Department (trauma emergency department) , the Fourth Trauma Department (trauma severe disease), Emergency Surgery at Emergency Center and pre-hospital emergency department in the East District, the First Trauma Department (trauma orthopedics), the Second Trauma Department (trauma emergency department), Emergency Surgery at Emergency Center in Central District. The center is equipped with 162 beds. The center includes 10 key departments and 13 supporting departments, like neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, burns, obstetrics and gynecology, some of which are national key clinical specialties. The related departments have more than 1,000 beds and performed more than 20,000 hospitalized trauma-related surgeries per year. They have advanced medical equipment, such as remote consultation system, computer navigation assisted surgery system, 3D printing system and internationally leading rehabilitation equipment. The Trauma Center has realized the integrated management of pre-hospital rescue, in-hospital emergency treatment and special treatment. The team boasts high caliber experts, information exchange, professional complementarity, and rapid response. Through the intelligent information building, patient information can be incorporated into the big data platform, which realizes standardized quality control and continuous improvement of trauma treatment. The center takes the lead in treating multiple injuries, serious injuries, especially pelvic fractures in China.
